Scottish Women’s Rights Centre is a collaborative organization providing free, specialist legal and advocacy services to women aged 16 and over who have experienced gender-based violence. Established in 2015 through a partnership between JustRight Scotland, Rape Crisis Scotland, and the University of Strathclyde Law Clinic, the Centre stands out for its dedicated focus on improving access to justice for survivors of abuse, domestic violence, rape, and sexual assault.
The Centre adopts a trauma-informed, client-centered approach, offering confidential support tailored to the unique needs of each individual. It serves a diverse clientele, with specialized services for migrant women, LGBTQ+ survivors, and those facing intersectional forms of violence. In addition to direct service provision, the organization contributes to policy and legal development in Scotland, using its frontline experience to advocate for systemic improvements in how gender-based violence is addressed within the justice system.
